COVENTRY CONTACT BROWN
Coventry City have confirmed that they are conducting negotiations with the former Hull city manager Phil Brown over the possibility of taking over from Andy Thorn, who was sacked a few weeks ago. Coventry City have been without a manager for the last few weeks. They have made a very poor start to the season and could possibly face relegation from division if things do not improve quickly. As a result, the board has started conducting negotiations with the possible candidates. They have now confirmed that the former Hull city manager Phil Brown, who is currently out of work, is one of the candidates.
The 53-year-old former Hull city manager has been out of work since being sacked by Preston midway through last season. Phil Brown is best known for his extraordinary spell with Hull city when he managed to take them from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier league. The first season in the Premier league was astounding, but a lot of downhill movement since then meant that Phil Brown left Hull city. He spent a few months at Preston before being sacked by the club after poor results. He will be hoping to get Coventry City out of the relegation zone.
“Last season there were off-the-field matters that affected team affairs. We felt it was right to give Andy the chance to put that right but do not feel that has happened. Of course the fact that we have surrendered the lead in the first three league games has not helped. But there are several other factors in this decision – not just three disappointing results. We would like to put on record our thanks to Andy for his work in current and previous roles at the club,” said the Coventry City’s Chief Executive after the sacking of Andy Thorn.

MORE PLAYERS NEEDED
The Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that he would like to bring in a few more players before the close of the transfer window. Coventry City have begun the life in the new League one season with two draws against Yeovil town and Sheffield United. The club was one of the favourites to win the promotion to the Championship along with the likes of Sheffield United. However, these two draws might have affected the chance of the club getting into the automatic promotion spot. As a result, the club manager Andy Thorn will be looking to spend some money in order to bolster the squad.
Due to the fact that the manager will not be able to make changes to the playing squad once the transfer window closes until January, Andy Thorn wants to be prepared for the upcoming few months of hard schedule in the third division of English football. Like every other club in the football league, Coventry City are also looking to strengthen their squad according to Andy Thorn.
“There’s one I’m waiting on that we were pretty hopeful we’d get. Sometimes you have to wait a little bit longer when Premier League teams are going to let someone out, and also they want to play them in the cup. You have to be a little bit more patient, so we’ll wait and definitely try and get one more in. We’ve just got to wait and see and wait for that to develop,” said the manager in the buildup to the match against Bury. Coventry City will be facing Birmingham city in the League cup match shortly following which they will be facing the likes of Crewe Alexandra and Stevenage in the league campaign. Andy Thorn is aiming for promotion to the championship this season.
